June 8: Richard Moe, President
of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Richard will discuss
the need for historic preservation in the southwest. The National
Trust for Historic Preservation provides leadership, education,
advocacy, and resources to save America's diverse historic places
and revitalize our communities.
June 15, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Historical
Markers: You are invited to Women's History along the Highways;
a talk with Dr. Tom Chavez, Patricia French and Karren Sahler.

Women Marker Initiative a project of the New Mexico Women's Forum,
Not one of New Mexico's 600+ Official Scenic Historic
Markers had as its central subject a woman, although dozens of men
from the valiant to the shameful are commemorated with markers around
the state. That has all changed thanks to the New Mexico Historic
Women Marker Initiative, which has now placed 64 markers around
the state honoring more than 100 women. Historian Dr. Tom Chavez
will provide an engaging lecture about these fascinating women from
our history. Founding member Patricia French and Executive Director
Karren Sahler will be on hand to provide a history of the project.
All are welcome but seating is limited.

May 11: Panel on Santa Fe's
challenges and widening horizons.
Claudia Pavel: owner of Positive Energy in Santa
Fe
Claudia will tell us how going green will benefit our world.
Ana Pacheco: founder of Las Herencia Magazine,
will discuss the health of the Santa Fe Community. La Herencia is
the only publication of its kind about Hispanic culture.
Diane Karp: Executive Director of the Santa Fe Art
Institute
Diana will speak to what is happening financially in the arts.
Peter Balleau: owner of Balleau Groundwater, Inc.
is an expert on Santa Fe's water situation.
Peter's focus is on hydrology, with emphasis on arid-zone hydrology.

Seminar: Women need to be in financial control of their lives.
Ironstone Bank, 700 Paseo de Peralta. Susan Wells and Ben Trujillo
-ChFC, CLU will inform and educate us about the best use of our
money. There is also the possibly of forming an investment club.
Mr. Trujillo owns his own firm: JB Trujillo which works with private
clients. Ms. Wells is a Vice President of Ironstone Bank and Financial
Sales Manager.
April 13: A reception at Lisa Bemis' home - to
honor those who have supported Women's Voices and to give people
an opportunity to get to know each other better. Please RSVP to

March 9: Dr. Duane W. Roller gave us a new view
of Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, as a diplomat and war strategist.
Book is published by Oxford Press. Dr. Roller is a noted archeologist
who has published ten books.

Panel discussing State and National Perspective on Health Reform
and Women
Giovanna Rossi: Governor Richardson appointed
Giovanna to be N.M.'s first Women's Health Advisor and is Executive
director of the Governor's Health Office.
Jane Wishner: is the Founder and Executive Director of the
Southwest Women's Law Center in Albuquerque, She is a member of
the Governor's Domestic Violence Leadership Commission and serves
on the National Advisory Board for the coalition of national and
state-based reproductive rights organizations.
Dr. Justina Trott: has been President of the American College
of Women's Health Physicians, has completed a Robert Wood Johnson
Health Policy Fellowship in D.C., and is a clinical professor at
The University of New Mexico.
Patricia Heyman: founder & principle of Bridging Associates,
speaker, facilitator, consultant and executive coach will moderate
the panel.

Maria Sanchez-Grana of the Office of New Mexico Attorney General
will speak on Human Trafficking and the New Mexico border.
Human trafficking is
a form of modern-day slavery, widespread throughout the United States
today. Trafficking of humans is the second largest criminal industry
in the world after drug dealing. Force, fraud and coercion are the
methods used by traffickers to press victims into lives of servitude
and abuse. Many cross the New Mexico border from Mexico into the
United States.

We meet the second Tuesday of every
month at Collected Works' new location, 202 Galisteo Street, from
5:00 to 6:30PM.
Women's Voices has the
